Hi, I’m Laura
I started my career in the classroom, where I saw firsthand how much people thrive when they feel supported, understood, and equipped with clear direction. That experience still shapes the way I work today.
Whether I am supporting a leadership team, a nonprofit board, or an early stage organization, I focus on the humans in the system. I build simple structures that make the work feel lighter, clearer, and aligned with where the organization is trying to go.
Over the years, this approach has led to meaningful outcomes. I received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the nation's highest honor for science educators. I helped Asheville Archery Training Center become USA Archery's National Club of the Year. In my fractional work with nonprofits and growing organizations, I have supported teams in clarifying priorities, establishing healthy rhythms, and turning complex ideas into coordinated action.
What matters most to me in every setting is the same through line. Start with the destination. Build from what is already working. Reduce unnecessary strain. Create structure that helps people flourish. I see this work as stewardship, leaving teams clearer, calmer, and better equipped to carry important work forward together.
How I Show Up
Practical clarity
I focus on structure that reduces friction and supports real work. No jargon. No unnecessary complexity.
People-centered systems
Structure should serve humans, not overwhelm them. I design with real capacity, strengths, and constraints in mind.
Strengths-based collaboration
I start with what is already working and build from there, creating quick wins and durable patterns.
Honest partnership
I am clear about what I do and what I do not do. If something is outside my lane, I will say so and help find the right path forward.
Stewardship
I approach this work with care and responsibility. My goal is always to leave people, systems, and organizations stronger than I found them.
Why Do I Do This Work?
Mission
My mission is to help mission-driven leaders and their teams work in ways that feel clear, coordinated, and sustainable.
I help build and hold simple structures and rhythms that reduce strain, strengthen culture, and keep meaningful work moving. When the operational backbone is supported, leaders regain the space to think creatively, lead with intention, and pursue the impact they are uniquely positioned to make.
By starting with what is already working and supporting the humans in the system, we create steady and lasting progress on the initiatives that matter most.
Vision
I envision mission-driven organizations where clarity, trust, and simple structure allow people to bring their best to meaningful work.
When teams move with ease and alignment, their mission travels farther and faster. The positive effects compound across families, communities, and the broader ecosystems they serve.
Outside of Work
Outside of work, life is wonderfully full. I live in Asheville with my husband, our two kids, our dog Lizzie, and our very opinionated cat Mango.
I believe life is too short for bad coffee. I love sharing beautiful meals with friends, spending time outdoors, and cheering on my kids in the activities they love. I also tend to find meaning in unexpected places. A Coldplay concert that sparks weeks of reflection. A surprisingly moving moment in a K-Pop Demon Hunter Movie. A walk with a friend that turns into a conversation about what really matters.
Because I am endlessly curious, there is usually a business book or operations podcast playing in the background. My kids now know many of them by heart.
If you're looking for a fractional partner who brings clarity, steadiness, and care to the work behind the work, I'd be glad to talk.
